North East Integrated Transport Study
In October 2007, the Victorian Government released the final strategy for the North East Integrated Transport Study (NEITS). The final strategy provides a basis for planning to meet the regional transport needs over the next 20 years in the Banyule, Manningham, Whittlesea and Nillumbik municipalities.
The strategy identifies key issues for the area with 50 separate recommendations. The proposals cover:
- land use
- public transport
- roads
- cycling and walking
- travel demand management
- and local access.
Local communities and other interested stakeholders were invited to comment on discussion papers in October 2003 and on the draft strategy report in August 2006. All responses received were considered in finalising the strategy.
