Environment policy
Through the commitment and involvement of its staff, the Department of Transport will maintain an environmental management system appropriate to the environmental impacts of its office-based activities from its CBD locations.
The department will strive for continual improvement in its environmental performance in the following areas:
- energy use
- water consumption
- paper use
- waste generation
- transportation
- purchasing
To achieve this, the department will commit to the following actions and practices:
- adopt a pollution prevention approach to DOT office-based activities
- comply with all relevant government policy and environmental legislation
- embed environmental sustainability into departmental programs and projects, where possible
- set objectives and targets so as to continually improve our environmental management and performance
- monitor and review our environmental performance
- undergo periodic environmental management system audits
- promote this environmental policy and the environmental management system to department staff
- communicate the department's environmental performance in its Annual Report.
