Reducing the Regulatory Burden initiative
The Victorian Government launched the Reducing the Regulatory Burden (RRB) initiative in 2006. The Government committed to a $500 million reduction in regulatory burden by July 2012. Reductions in the administrative, substantive compliance and delay costs of regulation imposed on business, the not-for-profit sector, the operation of government services and costs incurred by private individuals, are counted towards this target.
The Department of Transport's RRB activities are coordinated by the DOT Legal division.
As required by the Victorian Guide to Regulation, the changes in regulatory burden to industry have been measured using the Regulatory Change Measurement (RCM) methodology.
