The Director of Audit and Assurance has a dotted line report to the Secretary.

VicRoads has a dotted line report to the Minister for Roads and Ports. The independent Chief Investigator and Public Transport Safety Victoria report directly to the Minister for Public Transport.

Prior to 30 April 2008, the Department of Transport was known as the Department of Infrastructure.
