Cranbourne Pakenham Rail Corridor Project - community consultation

The Cranbourne Pakenham Rail Corridor Project has recently completed community consultation on early concept designs for the first package of works. The package will include level crossing removals at Murrumbeena Road, Koornang Road, Clayton Road and Centre Road as well as rebuilt stations at Clayton, Murrumbeena and Carnegie.

Activities undertaken by the project team during community consultation included community drop-in sessions, an online feedback survey, assessing email submissions from the community and meetings with local governments and local business owners.

Some of the feedback received includes:

  • direct connections to buses is important in designing new stations
  • car parking is an important consideration at each of the new stations
  • retaining the local sense of community and connections to the local shopping precinct is a priority
  • importance of station designs and how they fit with the existing environment.

All feedback received during this phase of community consultation will be carefully considered when developing further detailed designs.

There will be further stages of community consultation, with the next stage expected to be in early 2015 once more detailed designs are released.

Concept designs

The level crossing removals will require stations to be rebuilt at Carnegie Station, Murrumbeena Station and Clayton Station. The project team has developed concept designs for each of the new stations, which provide a first-look for the community to comment and provide input to help shape their new stations.
