New Diggers Rest railway station and car park open

Signaling an important milestone for the Sunbury Electrification Project, the refurbished Diggers Rest railway station building is now open.

Key features available at Diggers Rest railway station include –

• customer service staff for ticket sales and timetable information during the morning peak hours,
• a refurbished station building with a climate-controlled waiting room and public toilets facilities available during the morning peak hours, and
• over 550 car spaces for commuters.

Also, look out for artwork inside the station building by the talented Diggers Rest Primary School.  Soon, the new cabinet space inside the station will showcase art from the students, bringing creativity to the waiting room. 

Community Arts Program

The Sunbury Electrification Project’s Community Arts Program has been developed with the philosophy that places can play a role in maintaining and strengthening communities. The project team is currently working with RMIT to deliver an artwork project at Sunbury railway station and an anti-graffiti treatment program for the Sunbury substations. The project team will keep you updated with news on the selected artists and concept designs for the artwork.

Temporary closure of Sunbury railway station

Until further notice, the station building at Sunbury will be closed. This will allow for the renovation of the station buildings and upgrade of the platforms to take place.

During this time temporary amenities will be available to rail passengers. Look out for way-finding signage to assist you and please allow additional time to familiarise yourself with the changed conditions.

We will aim to minimise any disruption to the local community.
