Safe Taxi Audit

In December 2009, the Victorian Taxi Directorate completed the Safe Taxi Audit to ensure that every cab across the State was safe, clean and reliable.

Inspections, undertaken by the Victorian Taxi Directorate Transport Safety Officers, focused on vehicle appearance and safety issues including the condition of tyres, brakes and seatbelts, and whether items like safety cameras and LPG cylinders were working correctly.

Taxis also underwent a probity audit to ensure the vehicle and licence details matched official registration records.

Taxis that passed the audit received new green number plates identifying them as an Accredited Taxi Service.

VTD's Transport Safety Officers have been busy ensuring all taxis across the State are up to scratch.
