Replacing a lost, stolen or damaged MPTP "smartcard"

The following process applies for metropolitan Melbourne taxi drivers who require a replacement Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) 'smartcard'.

Step 1:

Apply for a replacement card at the Victorian Taxi Directorate (VTD) in person or by phoning the VTD on 1800 638 802 (toll-free).

Step 2:

Contact the VTD the next business day to confirm whether your card is available for pick-up.

Step 3:

Once you receive confirmation that your card is available, you will need to collect it from the VTD in person. You will need to bring photo identification, such as a valid Victorian Driver's Licence.

Taxi drivers must be logged on at all times to the electronic transaction terminal with their MPTP 'smartcard', which bears their name, driver licence number and card number incorporating their driver accreditation number.

Taxi drivers who are not logged on with their driver MPTP 'smartcard' and do not have a letter from the VTD will be fined and may have their driver accreditation reviewed.
