Frequently asked questions

What happens after I have submitted an expression of interest?

All applications will be acknowledged by email or mail. A shortlisting of applicants will be undertaken once expressions of interest have closed. Applicants will then be assessed for their suitability and relevant experience so that TDAG includes a good cross section of industry participants.

When will I find out if I have been successful or not?

All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their expression of interest by mail in May 2011.

Is it a full/part time or casual employment opportunity in the VTD?

No - advisory group members are not employed or contracted on any basis to the Victorian Taxi Directorate, the Department of Transport or the Victorian Government.

If successful how long will I be an advisory group member for?

Advisory group members will be appointed for a period of two years (or period as determined by the VTD to enable replacement/rotation of participants or opportunities for other operators to be part of the group).

Prior to the end of the two year period (or other period as determined by the VTD), further nominations may be requested. Current representatives may be eligible for re-nomination however appointments cannot exceed two terms (i.e. four years).

What happens if I am unsuccessful?

Details of all unsuccessful drivers will be retained on a register should they be interested in participating in any future workshops, focus groups or forums or remaining in a pool of possible replacement candidates (if a member resigns).

How often does the group meet?

Meetings will be scheduled four times during the year with an option for two additional special meetings (to be determined by the VTD) and generally held weekdays between 10.00am and 1.00pm.

Will I be paid?

Advisory group members will be paid a sitting fee in line with Victorian Government guidelines for members of advisory committees.

Reimbursement of reasonable out of pocket travel expenses and/or car parking fees associated with attendance at meetings will be considered in line with Victorian Government guidelines for members of advisory committees.

Additional travel/accommodation expenses may also be considered for country members.

What is the role of the advisory group?

The role of the advisory group is to strengthen communication channels between the VTD and taxi drivers and enable drivers to provide valuable feedback and input into taxi driver/industry issues in Victoria. The advisory group is not a decision-making body.

Who chairs the meetings?

The Chair of TDAG is the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement, VTD (or delegate).

Who else attends the meetings?

Meetings are often attended by the General Manager of the VTD, members of the VTD Leadership team, VTD staff, guest presenters and other attendees (both internal and external to the Department of Transport).

What happens if I can’t attend a meeting?

It is expected that members will attend all advisory group meetings. If unable to attend then prior notification to the Chair or delegate will be required.

What if I have more questions?
