About the plan

Decisions made now about transport infrastructure, will shape Victoria for the 21st century. The Victorian Transport Plan uses the best population and travel demand data to set clear strategic directions for transport to 2020 and beyond.

The Plan is unprecedented in scope and scale with:

More than $38 billion in projects and initiatives – the largest investment in transport in the State's history
A framework for future land development to bring where we work and where we live closer together
A pipeline for major transport projects over the short, medium and long term to respond to current demands and shape Victoria for future generations

It will provide a significant economic boost to the State now and into the future with new investment and thousands of new direct and indirect jobs.

Many of the projects outlined will take time to build, but practical action begins now with billions in funded commitments. The Victorian Government will also seek Commonwealth Funding for a number of nationally significant projects.

The Victorian Transport Plan delivers the generational investment needed for our next era of prosperity.
